Healthy Lifestyle Proficiency Badge 2008

Programme Requirement

1) Going through the Healthy Lifestyle Handbook and understanding the health information

2) Visit HealthZone, the one-stop healthy lifestyle exhibition centre

3) Attend a one-hour workshop on healthy living. This workshop will be conducted at HealthZone during the June Holidays.

Slot for Yuhua Guides: Mon 26 May 08 (11am – 1pm)

4) Complete the health-related personal assignment
· Plan and prepare 3 healthy snacks using the food items from the Healthy Diet Pyramid. Include your budget for the snacks.

· Surf the internet and print out 3 articles on ‘how to quit smoking’. Do a summary (no more than 200 words) on one of the 3 articles. (one article must be printed from http://www.hpb.gov.sg/. Other useful links include www.who.int/tobacco/en and http://www.cdc.gov.tobacco/ )

· Plan and lead an exercise routine for a duration of 60 mins for your troop. Follow this exercise routine for the next 4 weeks. (eg. Aerobics/dance workout, badminton game/roller blade/cycling, netball/ captain’s ball.

· Come out with a rap/ a jingle or song based on this theme: ‘How to quit smoking’.
(guides can collect anti-smoking pamphlets during their HealthZone visit. They contain useful information which can be used for the lyrics)
